can bank 1 cam cover be removed in situe ?

Hi,
Just spent the day replacing bank 2 head,
I bought another chain guide pack, plug tube seals and lifters for bank 1, looks very tight, bank 2 was bad enough.
Before I break the seal does anyone know for definate if bank 1 cam cover can be removed in situe. ?

Cheers
Barks.

You can do it in the car, BUT the passenger side (Bank 1) has less room than the driver side. I usually drop the exhaust and rear tranny mounts and then lower/tilt the engine to get a bit better access (it helps).
So much easier when the whole engine is out though; and you'll definitely want to do the vario-cam tensioner pads on Bank 1 (they seem to always be worse than the ones in bank 2)...

Thanks h

Did it yesterday. Very tight but managed it by just unhooking and cable tied the ally pipes to the brake pipe support.

I was going to do a thread showing the head removal, camshaft replacement, variocam chain guide replacement, lifter replacement, bank 2. And lifter replacement, chain guide and rebuild bank 1 all with the engine in done off an axle stand but I won't now as I fear there may be a few spelling mistakes.
I don't write a lot these days normally java and android code,,

Hey barks,

just write it down with some photos. If there are mistakes - who cares. This is a forum. It's intended to learn from each other. ;)

Regards, Markus

Sorry if you were insulted or your feelings were hurt; not my intention. I always appreciate knowing when I've made a mistake so I can learn from it and improve ;).
