New here, just bought a Boxster S!

Hi there!

A quick hello as I've recently signed up. I've just put a deposit down on this 2003 Boxster S...

Picking it up Saturday. I really, really can't wait. After test driving a few, it's alarming how fast these cars are. I'm one for taking extreme care of any car I own, from a 1.0 Saxo so my current Celica T-Sport.

Here's my current car:

That's got 143,000 on the clock, just so you get an idea of the type of condition I tend to keep my cars in.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys :)

It's a Toyota...it's just gettin' broken in! :D

Welcome to the club. Nice lookin' Boxster (and Celica)!

Welcome. Nice looking cars. Your celica is my favorite car to come from the island nation alongside the s2k!

joecal 11-14-2015 07:41 AM

Welcome, Very nice looking. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, they are fun to drive. Your Celica looks brand new!

Dualist 11-14-2015 08:30 AM

Mint looking car mate, will run rings around the celica :)

Nice S and nice Celica, too! I'm dating myself here, but my first car was a '76 Celica ST and second an '80 GT. Props for keeping that thing looking good! I'm the same way with my daily driver '06 Civic EX coupe. All sticks, too!

Welcome, you'll love it! You got one picture reversed, this is the way it should look :)

Looked at several black Boxsters when I was shopping. Every one showed every scratch. That, my friend, is one immaculate ride. Looks fantastic.

Welcome!!! Great looking cars!

Thanks :) I drove another Celica with 40,000 on the clock and it sounded and felt identical, down to the last tick. Such good reliability on those cars.

Funnily enough it wasn't my favourite. I bought the 140bhp Celica as it was good value and I didn't mind its looks, then bought this 190bhp version after the engine went in the previous one. They're not fantastic cars as standard - suspension is too high, brakes are awful, wheels look sunken in, interior is bland, etc. The celica I've got now has about £5,000 worth of modifications on it to bring it up to date (suspension, brakes, interior, etc) and only now do I think it looks and feels like a very good car. Luckily, I don't even have to touch the Boxster S :)

Thanks, I do try to keep my cars looking the best they can!

It'll be very interesting indeed. The Celica revs to 8,250rpm but has no torque, so you really have to rev the nuts off it to get it going. Totally different experience in the Porsche.

I've owned a black car before so I completely agree. I'm quite good with keeping paint in good condition now and have learnt a lot since my last black car, so hopefully this one wouldn't be too much trouble!

Cheers, appreciate it :)

Just can't wait to pick it up Saturday.

I'm in Cardiff, South Wales. This car is in Yorkshire, so about 4 hours of driving there and the same back. I'm leaving at 6am in the morning and my Dad's offered to drive me there. Going to be one hell of a drive back I can assure you!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Really amazing looking s. And black is the only colour for a boxster. I am a little biased in this matter. You will adore the Porsche feel of tightness in everything, and torque no matter what the revs, or gear.

Think you might beat your dad home.

We're actually driving up in his Skoda Octavia VRS. He's just bought one from new, the Mk3. TDI with the DSG box - incredible car, but yeah... I'll still beat him home ;)

The only thing this car hasn't got is the litronic headlights. I'm tempted to pick up a spare set of headlights in the near future to attempt a projector retrofit, but I'll need to do a lot of research into it.

Nice car. I'm in Cardiff also. I recently picked up a Boxster S (which i'm planning on doing an engine conversion on), they are lovely cars, so much nicer than the Celica.

Your Celica is nice, not seen it around. I've killed a few in the past for engine swaps into MR2 Roadsters, it' the perfect chassis for that engine.

Jamesp 11-15-2015 03:50 AM

Very nice! Thanks for the picture!

Dark blue boxster, any chance?

Escy 11-15-2015 08:01 AM

Yeah, ocean blue with GT3 alloys. Have you seen it around?

geraintthomas 11-16-2015 03:04 AM

I thought I saw one drive around Culverhouse Cross the other day. I saw it drive past me when I was in the bus lay-by parked up. You know the small round-a-bout that goes from two lanes to one, and everyone squeezes in at the end?

SKOOSH1970 11-16-2015 03:46 AM

Lovely car, in the best colour too.... make sure they take it off Ebay tho pal :)

Escy 11-16-2015 03:58 AM

I've not driven it for a few weeks so won't be mine.
