On a road trip from Atlanta to Savannah. Stop for a stretch, got back on I-16 and now I only have 3rd & 4th gear. Any ideas please reply or call 404.210.6721. This car is killing me!!!!

take a look under the rear at the back of the trans and see if both cables are still connected.

shift cable

Thanks to Jake Raby and jcslocum. I'm in business again.

One of the shift cable sockets had indeed popped off the ball at the transmission.

I just keep learning more about these things whether I want to or not. Guess that's a good thing?

It may 'pop off' again. Try a zip tie? Others have used them
Check Motor mount?

There must be a way to rebuild or rebush those ends.

Jake sez he is working on a component to remedy this problem. And I'm convinced, if anybody can, well, you know...

In aircraft rigging a simple ball stud fitting is used.
This is adjustable and can be locked. Inexpensive and effective. If one of these pops off when you are flying the consequences are just a little more dramatic than on the Boxster...Hence the locking feature:-).
Low Carbon Steel Ball Joints, Metal to Metal Ball Joints from Cablecraft Motion Controls
With Jakes Helo experience ,I guess the new product will be aircraft derived?

Tarrett has something that should work for those of you who don't want to just zip tie the factory pieces in place the way I did :)
