If you could fix or change one thing....

About yourself....

(just kidding)

About your Boxster....what would it be? (Feel free to chime in on repairs you personally need, too..)

Headlight lenses that don't melt with stock bulbs installed, replaced the headlights within one week of getting my car. New lights now have a slight brown spot a year later.

A 3.4L in my '99.

The position of the immobilizer box/CLU being at the lowest point of the floor under the driver's seat. Considering the possibilities of the floor getting wet in a convertible, that's just bad risk management. Under the dash, or back with the DME would make more sense. ...Oh, and a 3.6L+ engine.

There is only 1 inherent defect in a 986 "S". Undersized pistons! FIFM. Improper care & feeding are the cause of any other issues.

Obviously, you need a bigger spoiler.

Drop a brand new 3.6 with the IMS solution pre installed in mine free of charge and I'd be good.

300hp.

Or a 6-speed trans for the non-S cars.

Shorter gearing in my 2.7 - audi tranny swap will tackle that in the (hopefully) near future.

Use the 2.5 Tip, it has a much better gear ratio.
For instance 1st gear in the tip 2.7 hits about 42MPH. In the 2.5 it is down to 33MPH and so on. In the process of swapping a 2 .5 tip now into my 2.7l

The name. Carrera roadster or some modern rendition of 550 or 718 would be nice.

Honestly 986 is good enough though, but boxster doesn't have the ring that I would like.

Porsche9 10-23-2015 01:47 PM

More brakes, suspension, power and a better quality interior. Can pretty much never have enough of these.

Oh yeah, a better name then Boxster. 986, 550, 718, Roadster.

Hello BY, what is the size of the pistons on this picture?

The reason I am asking it's because the liners seem to have a very generous wall thickness, are these stock cylinders or are they the 3.6 or 3.8 LN Nickies?

Thank you!

dghii 10-23-2015 05:44 PM

+1 for higher quality interior trim parts that don't get scratched by just looking at them.

CHRISP357 10-23-2015 06:07 PM

More downforce.

Try a nice set of used litronics: http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/54697-advice-used-litronics.html
