Spoiler Malfunction CEL

Hi all,
I've been searching the forums, but I haven't found anything yet that might help me solve my situation.

The last two times I've had my 04S out on the road, when I get up to speed, the spoiler CEL goes on and stays lit until the car is shut off. The spoiler does extend and retract when using the manual switch, so I don't think it's the motor.

Any ideas on what could be causing this fault?

Thanks in advance.

It's not a check engine light. It's a spoiler malfunction light. There are two relays in the trunk that are responsible for operation. One is up one is down. I don't have a diagram but you can't find them. May need replacement but try pulling them and reseating them. That worked for me. Pelican has the relays if you find they need replacing.

My light has been staying on too, I'll have to try that today!
Thanks!

Any decent Porsche scan tool will read the source (and associated codes) of any MIL indicator lamp that is illuminated.

I was wrong, I just checked the manual and jdraupp is correct. The light only illuminates if the spoiler isn't working properly, it's supposed to raise at 75 mph and lower at 50 mph.

JFP I knew that, was more telling op to stop calling it a CEL. Guessing he doesn't have a Durametric hanging around.

Xpit, the light should not illuminate when the spoiler is functioning properly. If it comes on you've got an issue with operation. Mine would go up fine but light would occasionally come on when I slowed down and it needed to retract. The spoiler would stay up until I restarted the car, then I could manually retract it.

JFP - Sorry it's taken so long to report back, but it's been rather hectic here.

JDRAUPP - Sorry I did not use the proper term for the "malfunction indication lamp"

I used my Durametric, but the only codes I was able to retrieve were 33, 54 & 60 which had nothing to do with the spoiler. There was nothing indicated in the instrument cluster as to anything wrong with the spoiler.

I will try to recreate the situation and if it occurs again I will use the Durametric before I shut the vehicle off.

The light stays on after start up. Then it`s out after I pull away? I thought that it should light up when it`s up ?

It will only light up and stay on if there's a malfunction.

Light stays on indicating malfunction. Anyone know what size relay and location. Thank you for your input.

I know they're in the trunk, there are 2 of them. I think there's a picture on the Pelican site of the location.
