Chassis Reinforcement Plate Bolts
So I just finished doing my second oil change on my Boxster and noticed that the two bolts for the plate are missing. I'm sure they were missing when I bought it and just didn't notice on the first oil change. Anybody know of the size or have two of them to sell?

Do a search for the part on ********************************************.com or down load the parts diagrams (PET) from porsche.com.

If you mean the nuts (8). They are M 10. Diagramm shows 986 2004 model.

Well now I am going to have to go back under the car, I didn't see any bolt ends showing. Hopefully the old owner didn't brake off the bolts.

just go to your local Porsche dealer, they should have the bolts/nuts. find what you want in PET and it generally says what the size is
Markus identified it as a M10 nut, so you can always go to HomeDepot, Lowes or your local hardware store and buy a few. They look like shoulder nuts, if they don't have them, get nuts and washers. Of course, if you don't get official Porsche nuts, they won't be coated with virgin unicorn semen Got to have something special as they are ~$2.50 each from Porsche |
hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, after finding time today (and after running and picking up M10 nuts) I slide under the Boxster and it is definitely a bolt not a nut. Maybe the 98's used bolts, I know the picture shows a nut but its not. I guess another trip to pick up some bolts is in order.

Hi ScottStu,
sorry to hear. 98 cars seems to be different to my 04 car. Did a little research. Think you need M 10 x 1.5 bolts. Hope that helps. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1444766457.jpg Regards Markus |
Thanks Markus, I was going to buy a few different sizes but I'll just start there.

home depot and lowes both sell metric bolts
|
The nuts shown in the illustration are shouldered ... something you'll likely not find at Home Depot, etc.
|
they do sell shoulder bolts and nuts at least in the ones near me and in any case you can always use a regular bolt and a washer
|
Thanks guys! I am missing the same two bolts as the OP on my Spec Boxster.
|
Maybe there is no fastener on there before 2000?

Buy two 45mm x 10m bolts, recently changed mine

Well, got the correct bolts. Thanks Woody. I always had a little rattle on start-up, its gone now. Makes me wonder if any other bolts and nuts are loose under there? I had a knock in the rear end going over bumps and that seems gone also, I might have to spend my next day off tighten up some stuff.
