Simoniz Glasscoat

Has anyone had experience with this stuff? The dealer wants to apply it to my dad's new Lexus and came off the price of $1200 to $700 rather quickly when he balked. They'll guarantee the application for get this... SEVEN YEARS. That's probably why they can get away with such an absurd pricing structure.

New Simoniz Glass Coat Professional Glasscoat Paint Protection | eBay

If others say it's good stuff, I was thinking of buying a bottle and applying it to his new ruby red two stage paint job before he has a chance to scratch the crap out of it in automated washes. (He's 87, and no matter how many times I will tell him to take it to a hand wash place he won't drive that far or pay that much).

BTW, I asked this same question on the FB page for my local PCA club and all I got was pretentious GT3 and Turbo owners telling me they drop their cars off at X shop, followed by those shop owners telling me I can't do what they do and to leave it up to the professionals if I want a durable wet-look finish. What jerks.

nothing will stop scratching completely other than a clear bra
That is probably the best thing for you. A clear bra will protect the paint and should last 5-7 years if done properly and the high quality product. It's not cheap, probably $1500- $3000 to do the car depending on how much of the car is done

I had Ceramic pro put on my Targa and I am very pleased. It is scratch resistant. but not scratch proof. It does make keeping the car clean easier.

There are other products as well. Nanoskin, opti-coat, CQuartz

You can do it yourself, but you need to make sure the paint is perfectly prepped and clean , including using a solvent or alcohol to remove all way and polish
YMMV
