Escort Max 360

It looks like Escort just stepped up the radar detector game. They now have directional arrows like the V1. With the arrows and built in GPS this might be a game changer.

Very interesting. I know Valentine holds a patent on the arrows. I would wager a lawsuit is already in the works.

Is this Escort model upgradeable like the V1? That would definitely make it a head to head competition.

As far as I can tell the patent ran out in 2012. So Escort has most likely been working on this since then, maybe before.

If that's the case, Valentine is an idiot. They're easy to renew... takes 15 minutes online no less!

Those arrows make all the difference in the world to me. This Escort may be the best detector ever.

Thank Goodness Santa is a forum member!

Escort Passport Max 360 Radar Detector Review

This gives a lot more info on the unit. Looks pretty good to me. The things I liked least about my Passport 9500i were the lack of arrows and the false alerts from other cars with accident avoidance sensors. This unit claims to solve both of these issues. I will hold off buying one until I see some reviews of it. $650 is a lot of beans for a poor guy like myself

Built in Bluetooth is nice too. If it really gets rid of the false alerts, it is worth it.

The arrows are awesome.

I'm pretty sure Mike Valentine, I think that's his name, has paid a hefty sum to keep his IP lawyers busy over the years. I think I read somewhere that he owns a 959. Surely he's been preparing for the possibility that Escort would eventually have arrows too. Perhaps he's getting a piece of Escort's revenue to license the arrow technology. All good ideas must eventually come off patent, just like Apple and rounded corners on hand-held devices.

p.s.
the whole idea of having a bulky box on your windshield seems so incredibly 1999. It should be just a little suction mounted sensor that transmits to your smartphone via Wifi-Direct. The smartphone already has a ultra powerful quad core processor, GPS, big screen, 4G LTE, etc. Why not use your phone's existing hardware to piggy back off and reduce the overall cost of the device your selling? I guess if you still carry around a flip phone then having a device that looks like an iPod from 14 years ago on your windshield is the only option.
