Low Temp H7 Bulb availability?
Hi There,
I would like to know if there is a low temp alternative to the stock H7 bulbs for the stock 99 head lamps. My head lamp lenses have slight burn marks but would like to get a few more years out of them. Done some hunting and have found LED replacements but don't know if they are any cooler. Thanks Duezzer |
The LEDs I've tried aren't bright enough for practical road use. Best bet is an HID projector upgrade.

Lower Temperature means warmer or more yellow light. Tungsten (remember those) is 3200K , Daylight is 5500K
I'm an old chrome photographer.......we had to know |

One more addendum then
Any thing far from 5000Kelvin is going to mean less transmitted light....go HID if you want a cool color....even that is subject (like everything) to the laws of Physics

thanks for the note Particewave - I will clear up my position -
I don't want cool color - I want a low temp bulb - One that will not continue to burn the lens in my head lamp - I am going to do the head lamp retor fit that is listed in the Projects folder but not for a couple years and wanted to stop the lamps from burning the lenses. Thanks |
I have a set of headlights with the same situation. The start of yellowing in a spot, but not a big burn or cracking. With a lot of searches here and other forums, The most common solution is to go with a basic Xenon conversion. I'm not talking about the full conversion to projectors, but simply adding the ballast and bulb.
Pelican Parts DIY This would also be part of the conversion to the Bi-Xenon projectors if you plan on doing that later. The other info that I have found from my searches is to be sure that you are using the lowest wattage bulb that provides adequate lighting if you stick with Halogen. (not 100W) |
HID in non projectors is not a good idea

Thanks for the info - So stick with 55w H7 till I can put in the projector kit.
As HID in a non projector sucks and LEDs don't produce enough light. Is there any H7 brands that run cooler? |
