Any way to fix this?

I noticed this last night. It's new. Do I need to just order a replacement?

It is paint? It seems like almost a fabric cover.

It's a crappy rubberized coating. We have just covered ours in black leather. Very easy to do.

Mine is rubberized coating. I think I may have found a good match.
Gotta do some more testing and I will make a post with the results

I covered mine in leather 4 years ago still looks looks brand new That rubberized coating is far to easy to scratch then it looks like crap.

For those who covered this in leather....

....how was this accomplished? Is the arm rest easy to remove?

Thanks.

Take the door card off. On the back there are screws holding the 2 posts that the cover is hinged onto. You then have the cover loose in hand. Cover with whatever leather or vinyl you want. We had some black around so we used that as the cover was originally black. We also did the covers just above the inside door handle. Looks great!

Pedro's Boxster site has info and instructions too.

Easy peasy fix

when I first got my Boxster I ordered some black leather off eBay and covered mine. There is a page somewhere showing how to do this...just contact cement

I read that you do not need to remove the door panel. You can remove the hinge pins between the cover and the door.

Taking the card off is time consuming. Knock the pins out, it is easier. I would also remove the handle inside the door. The silver handle just above the storage area. Makes it easier to install the new one.
