An I asking too much?

As I plan projects for my car's next hibernation, one wish keeps coming to mind. I want that burble sound from my exhaust upon deceleration. I don't want to buy a new exhaust system, encounter any CEL or cause any drone. Does this seem realistic?

No.

With that being said, Fintro proposed a reasonably affordable solution that doesn't have much drone but does require changing the exhaust system. Be aware that the exhaust will also be MUCH louder than stock - but it does sound very bad ass.

Above is all true. I have Circuit Werks / Beluga, but same deal.
I got quite a bit more decel burble when I went to a 75mm TB and 997 plenum T, but exhaust was already in place, so I doubt it would have the same effect with stock exhaust.
Car is a 2.7 5-speed.

Can anyone point me to a video with sound of 'drone'?

I don't know exactly what that sound is, and it sounds like I wouldn't want that sound if I heard that sound.

Not sure "drone" can be captured in a recording. Part of it is a feeling/vibration you get from the sound in in ears. It's rather unpleasant.

Sounds like what I'm looking for. No drone? What do you do about the O2 sensors left hanging?

My mistake, I wasn't clear enough. I meant that I don't want to change out the entire exhaust, headers, etc. but I'll give Fintros recommendation a try unless someone gives me a reason not to.

If your 986 is a 2000-2004 all the O2 sensors are up in the exhaust manifold with the integrated cats. The 2nd cat is not monitored by the ODBII system and has no O2 sensors. I have the 2nd cat delete on my 2000 and it did nicely improve the sounds and there is some of the burbling like you describe. It is a little louder too but not extreme. I like it!

As far as I can tell. They are just pipes with bungs, just screwed the supplied plugs in with some thread locker, I believe you have to do the same with the Top Speed pipes (most are made to work on all 2.5/2.7/3.2, and 2.5's have the O2 sensors here).

If you have a truck with four doors, roll down the rear windows partially and drive. You will get a horrible sound/vibration that is really hard to deal with. I can easily execute the drone sound in my xterra doing this.

I guess they are just pipe joints with bungs, just attached the provided connects in with some line locker, I believe you have to do the same with the Top Rate pipes
