Does you dealer charge for a loaner car?
I had my first service at my local porsche/audi dealer today. Spent a grand on complete front brakes, oil change, brake fluid bleed. Warranty covered reapir of locking gas cover. When reviewing my bill, they charged me $10 for a loaner car (audi A4). The charge is nominal but I was very surprised as I had never paid anything for a loaner car from a saab dealer..anyone else get charged by the dealer for this? I would have been less annoyed had they added to shop fees and not told me about it!

Nope Porsche should cover it while the car is under warranty

dropped my 987 off at Walter's in Riverside a few weeks ago to have them investigate a few random things on the car - they have an enterprise inside the mercedes division of the dealership. Nissan Maxima was free - $15 to upgrade to MB - I opted to keep the $15 since I was driving straight to the hospital where the car was gonna sit in the parking lot all day. If I would have been able to do some driving that day, I would have taken the MB - Nissan was a nice car, but felt like a bus compared to my Box!

mine doesnt charge as long as you bring it back with a full tank. if you dont, 6 bucks a gallon! they also said they would have to kill me if i smoked in it or drove it thru the easy tag lane on the toll road.

Since I didn't buy the car locally my dealer (and Porsche) only covers a loaner car for warranty service. I don't think the gas cap qualifies.

hey mjw,
actually the gas cap was covered under warranty, however, I did not buy my box from the dealership that did the work. Can't beat $10 charge for a new rental, but I spent a $1000 on other maintenance work (non-warranty). The differing charges or non-charges among dealerships is interesting....

I've been to three different dealers for waranty and non-waranty repairs and it comes down to the dealer. I've had the dealer say that the first day is on them and had dealers say nothing and pointed me to the Enterprise counter.

I get a loaner car for free at the Mazda dealer with my $22K Tribute. Even the Audi dealer where I bought my CPO '98 A6 still gives me a free loaner, although the car has about 66K miles and is well out of warranty. The dealers should build loaners into the price of service. It can't cost them that much. It's unconscionable to charge more than $1K for service and then insist on a $10 payment for a loaner. How chintzy can you get? Porsche charges enough for service to include a loaner, even after the car is out of warranty. It doesn't have to be a Cayenne. Any decent car will do.

The dealership delivers the loaner to me....about a fifty mile trip. Always a Cayenne, never any extra charge that shows up on the invoice, but I know they're making it on the backend somehow.

Porsche of Tysons Corner, no charge...
... but I almost died when they showed up with the loaner. Chevy Cobalt, ugg. I parked the cobalt and just drove my daily driver jeep around instead. Oh well... the audi, lexus and bmw dealers in the area seem to loan nice cars
