Driver seat controls

Hi again,

1999 Boxster base. 5-speed.

Question, the driver's seat back electrical lever works but the vertical lever does nothing. No electrical engine sound or anything. This is new to me Boxster so I have no idea if this is normal or not. Are all seat adjustments, except forward /backward, electrically adjustable? If so, Is this a common problem and easy fix?

Thanks!

Ps. The passenger seat does not have this lever at all, just a plastic cap. So I can't compare the seats controls.

for mine, '97, the vertical lever is mechanical, attached to a cable that releases a latch in the front of the seat (underneath). If it's not working, sounds like the plastic teeth inside the leaver have stripped.

Ok, I am pretty good with tools, but Is this an easy fix? I guess I need to take out the driver's seat to access the mechanism?
A winter project.....
Thanks.

A picture may help too. A lot of cars came with electrically adjustable backs but manual height adjustment. Mine is like that too. So you will not hear any motor sound when you pull that lever if it's manual. Additionally they take a little bit of effort to adjust and are not as loose if that makes sense. Finally there is a pressurized canister, for lack of a better term to explain it, that provides the pressure needed to help the seat with that height adjustment and given the age, that could be shot too.

Good luck!

If it is mechanical, to raise the seat, lift the lever with no one sitting in the seat, it should lift a few inches
to lower, sit your butt in the seat and lift the lever, it should drop.

You can look under the seat and see if there are motors or not for height adjustment
