Hood protection options

So, In the 6 mo I have owned the car with each trip I make I seem to notice more little tiny rash. I hate the standard bra, don't want to clear bra in a can due to rash. Don't like the shape of the magnetic strip that one vendor sells due to shape. I think at present the only option I can think of is just Vinyl it. Any ideas I've missed? And I surely don't want to plastidip. I just want to preserve what it looks like now before I sell car in the future.

You've already nixed it, but 3M Paint Defender spray is not good. In the AM, condensation makes parts of the hood an opaque white color... And it softens the film. Bad news.

What about one of the "clear bra" options that are mode of pre-cut vinyl? X-Pel is one brand that sells what they call a "bikini cut" version that covers about half the hood, and the fronts of the fenders. Separate pieces of course.

This will give you an idea of what it looks like:

I'll check that out. I suppose it's just squeegees on like other vinyl wrap. Thanks,

Checked out Xpel and a bit pricey for my budget. Plus when covering with clear over rash it will still show thru. Mine is Lapis Blue so I've decided to just vinyl wrap the entire hood in Charcoal gray. Save the entire hood and I don't think it will look too bad 2 tone. Can get a 4x5 foot sheet for about $50 on eBay. Our hoods look very easy to cover. If you can't find a wrap for 986 look also for early 911 as they share same hood.
