Engine is Run In!!! Hoo Ray at Last

I've gone over the 2,000 mile mark on the motor and can now relax a bit with watching the RPM's. Already I notice a difference in driving. My launches are natural and gear changes match the road and driving conditions rather than being constrained by watching the tach. I've yet to really run the rpms up but its good to be into the mid 4's when running through gears!! :)

Till 4,5k rpm is nice.

Above 5k rpm the fun really begins as my BoxsterS opens its intake and does some Variocam stuff.

Sweet!!!! Remember to hang on and wear a jock strap.

The engine is way better after 5k rpm. Let the beast rip! You wont hurt her. I take her to redline several times on every outing.

I personally love the sound of the engine screaming at 5k. This car is SO much fun!

I like to scare the people waiting for their valet cars in the parking garage.
Its soooo much louder indoors. (after I let it warm up of course :p ).

I am enjoying the new sounds...

It exhibits a more aggressive personality as the RPM's rise and accelerates with authority. I still don't think I'm into the meat of the powerband but I'm easily leaving all the tailgaiters behind on the highway on-ramps. Making beautiful sounds in the process. :)

You need to go find a tunnel and run it up to redline with the top down.

It makes me very happy. :)

eslai - where are there any tunnels in southern california? maybe that would make me forget about my annoying vibration!!!!!!!

eslai 04-25-2006 10:15 AM

Oh, there's a couple of awesome ones up near Malibu on Kanan Dume Rd. (start from PCH, head towards 101). Any of those roads over from PCH to 101 above Malibu, like Topanga Canyon, are good drives.

San Diego has nothing, really, other than a little one at the south end of Fashion Valley Mall.

If you're ever in downtown LA there's two tunnels between Figueroa and Broadway, on First street and third street. They're like 2-3 blocks long and good for hearing the engine rev.

The First street tunnel is where the studios film many scenes requiring a tunnel.

And if you used to the engine above 5k rpm then

1. Desnork the intake
2. Put a PSE on the exhaust
3. Find yourself a tunnel

:-)

I like the way the exhaust resonates when I pull into the parking garage under my office building. I always blip the throttle needlessly and hope someone else is around to enjoy the sound too. :D
