98 boxster will not turn over

I have a 98 boxster just put a new battery in and the front and rear compartments still will not unlock and the car will not crank, the dash comes on but the lock button will not unlock or lock the doors....PLEASE HELP

I would start by making sure the battery is connected properly and checking all of your fuses. Did you replace a dead battery, or did you replace the battery in response to this issue?

Has it been out in the rain? Any moisture under the passenger seat?

You mean drivers seat...

Doh! Yes, driver's seat.

Moisture at immobilizer is what I was offering as a suggestion.

I agree with Timco - sounds like the immobilizer isn't working properly. It should recognize the signal from the transmitter in the key fob and allow the door locks and starter to engage. A common cause is water getting under the drivers seat and shorting out the immobilizer.

If everything is dry, I'd disconnect the new battery, wait a few mins, and reconnect to see if things reset on their own.
