storage for my 986

I will be storing my 986 Boxster S this winter, I have a long driveway at the house so no issues there, I was wondering if anyone knows if you can buy a collapsible or sectional plastic type hut for it.

Basically build a sectional plastic hut around it, when winter is done just dismantle and store away, surely there is something out there, don`t want to use a cover as the paint gets scratched when the cover moves in the wind.

I know you get these plastic boxes you build to store garden things, not sure if there is anything available for what I need it for?

While there are lots of members from the UK and Europe here, they may have a better idea to what is available your side of the pond.

Temporary garages are available at most hardware stores in the US. Normally, they are metal piping that screws together with a custom fitted tarp cover. You could probably DIY, but I agree with JayG, Boxa.net would probably be able to recommend products available locally in Scotland.

BTW, Scotland is one of my favorite countries. I'm jealous of the scenic drives you have available!

How are you folks keeping the mice out of your cars? I am going to store one this winter and I live out in the country. Mice are an issue.

I live out in the country too and we had a huge rodent problem after a forest fire wiped out the predator population. Besides putting your car in an air tight shipping container, I don't think there's much you can do to keep them out if they're around. If you have a car cover, the cat idea is probably the best. Of course you'll have to feed and care for a cat. You can also put a few glue traps in your car. I tried glue traps at first but the rats would eat the mice that got stuck. I ended up putting poison pellets out and that eliminated the rodent population around my shop. There is a down side that you might have a decaying rodent in your car. However you decide to get rid of them is up to you, but if you have a rodent population or not. I think some precautions should be made. I have a neighbor who owns a repair shop. He had a boxster come in with weird electrical issues. He knew I was into them, so he brought it over to my shop for me to work on it. I found a mouse nest behind the fuse box. Luckily it didn't cause any damage but had forced some of the wires to loose contact. I also heard a story of someone who had mice chew the wire harness of a GT3. Needless to say, that was one expensive bill to fix.

And both yourself and Rick3000 had the cat idea and I may look into a few barn cats that need a garage to hang out in for the winter.

You can't do the poison idea and cat idea together. Glue traps on the inside of the car and a cat on the outside will work great together.

The cat idea was half a joke, but my cat is awesome. She keeps our house rodent free, although we don't exactly live in the country. I know that another common area for rodents is the cabin filter, and front cowl (plenty of space up there). Perhaps you could plastic wrap the car, or parts of the car, with that moving stretch wrap?!

I used to have a mouse problem in my garage.I got one of those plug in the outlet pest and insect repellers.Every 3 months I get a box of moth balls and toss them all around inside the garage.Been 4 years and no sign of a mouse.And no more snakes either.
