use the same pads front and rear. You could get uneven braking otherwise I found some lower cost ceramics on Amazon that I am very happy with. Used them at the track and they worked great and no problems or squealing on the street as well. Very low dust I have an 04S, so I believe theses should work on your 01S http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YOCLWY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailp age_o05_s01 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007K1KZLG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailp age_o05_s00 When I bought mine, they had a price error and the rear pads were only $11.00, it was a pricing mistake As far as the rotors, measure their thickness, you may not need to replace them. My original rotors were fine, in th emiddle of spec with 65k miles |

Even though Porsche says you can NOT resurface (turn) the rotors ... you actually can. Did mine 40,000 miles ago and no problems at all.
