I'll recommend the PCH (CA hwy 1) as well. Haven't had the boxster there yet, but I have experienced Carmel to Morro Bay many times on 2 wheels. Naciemento/Fergeson Road about 20 miles south of Big Sur just adds to the fun. it is about 14 miles from Hwy 1 to the back gate of Fort Hunter Ligget. The trip up (eastbound) is spectacular, the trip back down with the Pacific Ocean laid out in front of you is absolutely amazing! Get the eastbound trip early enough in the morning when the coastal fog is still in, and it looks like somebody took a huge scoop of marshmallow fluff and just spread it out up to meet the mountain tops jutting out of it.

There are roads in the Caliifornia Sierras that are spectacular, but they are just finished much quicker than that cruise down or back up the PCH.
