Nice car!!
Had two people say nice car yesterday and today a lady loves my car. :)
How often are you complimented? I just dusted it and tire shine and clean rims. |
One guy at Shell told me "beautiful car" the other night.
I felt so proud :o |
Every time I park the white 01with the 20 inch wheels, in a big parking lot I get a few kids (16-24 year olds) asking all about it. My dirty 99 not so much.
|
also nice car
Almost every time I drive anywhere in my very small town, I receive compliments and questions about the car. I even took it to a British Car Club meeting this week, as I had renewed my membership just before selling the Jaguar XK8 and buying the Boxster, and received several compliments from the membership in attendance.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1435446238.jpg

Usually when I am feeling grumpy and it makes my day.
|
Thu I was at a stoplight in my LE and a crumpled 10 yr old Camry pulls up next to me in the right turn lane. Middle aged guy asks me what yr it is. I said 2008. He says it looks nice. Well yeah, next to your beat up Camry.

Its a pretty regular occurrence for me. Its just not the kind of car you can pick your nose while youre driving it. I can remember reading, a lot, how folks refer to the Boxster as a 'chick car', 'poor mans' 911', 'a hairdressers' car' ect but its usually white males 30s to 40s (my exact demographic) who say something and ask questions (I always find that interesting). I must admit doing a mild cut and buff of a neglected clear coat (I dont think the previous owners ever cut and buffed the car) only made the compliments and looks more regular.

I was told how nice my car looks this evening, only problem it was from a policeman who had just pulled me over for going 47 in a 30. Stupid mistake, car had just warmed up and I wanted to wind it up a little. Good news is he let me off with a warning since I've been ticket free for a good while.

I do get it occasionally, and it makes my day. :)
My favorite reaction is when a client shakes his head and says: "I'm in the wrong end of this business!". I guess not realizing how old it is. ;) |
Had a minivan pull next to me a few months back. Kid in passenger seat says mom, mom, look at that car!!!
Well, that's a Porsche. And if you get your grades better and do your homework you can have that too! I almost said "kid, don't listen to her. I chased girls, got terrible grades, and dropped out of high school most way through 12th grade to hang with my girlfriend. What's your mom or dad driving? " |
Almost every time I drive it :)
|
I get more call outs with this 17 year old car than I ever did with my bright red SLK. When I tell people I could have bought 3 of these for what I sold my 07' SLK for last summer they just stare.
|
I get compliments all the time on the car. My favorite story though, is when I had a Dodge Stealth back in the day. Bright red. A guy comes up to me and says....Is it really as fast as they say?" I pointed to the car and said "you mean this?" He says, Yeah the Viper. Is it really that fast? Of course I replied yes, and walked away with a smile on my face because he had no clue.

We were at a really hi dollar wedding recently and they parked our 2001 boxter s next to a 2015 Carrera GT-s fully optioned...The Mercedes amg sl was across the street.
|
Came out of a restaurant recently and a church group of young men were taking turns standing next to the Box and having their picture taken. They were being very respectful. So, I let them take turns having their picture taken in the driver's seat. Made their day -- and mine.
|
Was parking at a restaurant/ bar on the lake last week...a bachelorette party was walking in. The bride-to-be yells "omg, I want pictures in that car!!!" I happily obliged!
It was fun, but that's the end of the story..this isn't Dear Penthouse! |
Just got my Boxster back on the streets last night after replacing the window regulator and pulling up to a light a guy compliments me on what a nice car. Between driving the Boxster and the Panamera, the compliments are nice but it's that feeling of freedom that really makes my heart sing!:D
|
I have family in small towns near here and it usually draws quite a bit of attention. In KC, I just get constantly harassed by kids in Hondas or redneck hillbillies in pickups.
It was fun for a while, but I'm the type that doesn't like a lot of attention. The car is currently for sale and will be listed online soon. :) |

i was running in our local autocross on Sunday. As I pulled into queue to start my 2nd run, an older gentleman in a seat nearby stated "That is a beautiful car." Hearing that while on an airstrip full of Porsches is something, so I thought it warranted a resurrection of this thread.
|
I find that those that aren't Porsche buffs often think the car is virtually new (I have a 2000).
That's one good thing about Porsche designs having strong similarities and the main design cues really never changing. And the 986 shows it's age considerably versus a 987 but still I get people thinking my car is only a few years old. |
Funny, I got a lot more comments when I had the Seal Grey. Now that I have the Lapis Blue, I don't get nearly as many.
|
Guy outside StarBuck's---- "Dude, is that a Lamborghini?"
|
I had a neighbor from down the street and his brother walk over, and fuss over the car. That felt great. Then the brother who I hardly know at all, asked if he could drive it. Good feelings gone!! :)
|
I've lost count how many times an older guy will come up to me at a gas station and say I have the dream car they were never able to buy. Makes you laugh at all the snobs who will say "meh...just a Boxster".
|
When I drove the car home the first time, top down of course, two neighbors (middle-aged guys) started running after me to see the car. It had just been detailed by the dealership and it glistened!
One guy went and told his wife he wanted one. (Wife wouldn't let him get a roadster, got a BMW sedan instead.) The other guy wasn't able to talk his wife into any new car. But he does drive an Infiniti G37. A couple of months later my next-door neighbor comes home with a BMW convertible (sedan). She tells me she had to get a convertible after seeing mine! |

Stopped at the dollar store to get a couple bottles of water before picking my son up from band practice last night and a mom with her two Jr. High and Elementary school daughters commented on the cute little car and love your convertible. :) The mom just let out a ever so slight smile and kept on walking. haha
|
Dropped off my 6-year old to school this morning in the Box with the top down. The smiles and "wows!" from the teachers and other parents dropping their kids off while looking at us were priceless.

Getting out of highschool where everyone wants to be better than everyone else and taking some college dual credit courses has lead to many many compliments.
There are some cool cars at tech like mustangs and fiesta sts but the boxster is the most unique car in the very large parking lot as far as I can tell. See if you can spot it haha! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09...1b8797218b.jpg I got a spot today right at the bottom of the first flight of stairs so most everyone had to pass the box. People are less insecure at tech and far more open to complimenting one another, I get compliments on my car daily and return the favor whenever I spot someone driving something else interesting. However what's worth a thousand words arnt the compliments from other young guys, it's the smiles from the young girls [emoji41] |
I was at the gas station filling up the Boxster today and this nice looking woman walked over and said "you have a very nice car" Before I could say thank you, the yahoo on the other side of the pump with his raised 2wd pickup (yes, not a 4x4!)and hat backwards said "Yes, I do have a really nice truck, want to go for a ride?".
She turned to him and said " I was speaking to the guy with the nice Porsche not you Jethro" turned and smiled at me. I smiled back and shook my head in wonder. Finished filling it up, got in, drove off and and laughed |
