Fabspeed jack point
 
Anyone using this that would like to share their thoughts?

That would look terrible just behind the front tires and in front of the rears. Would have to repaint.

Then, I'd need 4 of them? Not worth it.

Should simplify the lifting process. Just not so sure of the structural strength there.

Kidding only because I could not figure out where that was supposed to bolt on.

Some jack-hole used that spot to jack on mine, and left a jack-ring on the aluminum brace. When I straightened it small tear. Had it TIG welded.

I wish mine was that clean!!!!!!

Me too.
Doing the engine mount and trying to figure out if the water pump is original to the car.
I would prefer a central jack point in the rear and that Fabspeed piece might be it. It would prevent the damage you described from jacking there.

You should be able to follow the metal gasket to see if it's been cut before. You have to cut the old one off the next part over then cut the new gasket. Mine had 130k miles and was not new when I swapped it. They used non Porsche. I used Porsche.

Hard to tell with the hoses still hooked up but from what I can see it does not appear to cut.

mine is all dented up from jacking there. and I use a block of wood too.

Having just had all this "stuff" off doing a bearing job that particular spot does not look like it would support the weight of the car ??

That was my thought. Guess it's too new. No-one to sing its praises or state that it's causing damage lifting from there...

That's news to me, this is my fifth of these and I lifted all by that point. but like I said I use a block of wood there.

I always use a "Jack Puck" when lifting any of my vehicles, that little aluminum brace just does not look strong enough to me.

I agree that the center jacking point just doesn't seem right. However, from the early years of the 986 this has been recommended and used by many. The fact that Fabspeed makes a special bracket for this area is further evidence that the Boxster is structurally sound to be jacked there. I need to try it!

I have always used the end of the diagonal brace which is directly under a structural suspension part. I've had that cross brace off and in my hands. Don't know whether I would trust it as a jack point. But it is very tempting considering it is further aft and central to boot! If someone can convince me, I'm in!
