Headrest wind screen..

So I picked up a pair of screens for my headrest. I seriously doubt the tabs will hold once the wind catches. I've read fellas are using either double sided tape, tie wraps or both to secure it down.

In regards to the tie-wraps I can see doing the lower sides around the bar but at the top portion where are you using the tie wrap? The way I see it can be done is if you wrap around the roll bar which cosmetically doesn't look so good.

I may end up using double sided tape on all areas and one tie wrap at the bottom in case it breaks free.

Any other ideas???

Thanks fellas!

They hold at 250 km/h, but I just tie strapped the bottom

I tried tie wrap just on the bottom but it pulled the upper portion away and caused my double sided tape to lose contact. Maybe I have pair of smaller mutant screens? I'm going to try double sided tape on the top and bottom to fill in the the gaps.

Thank you for the response.

They don't have to be super tight just enough so they don't blow away

I ended up doubling the tape for thickness at the top area and did as you recommended adding a tie wrap at the bottom in case the tape gives.

Thanks again!

The way the aerodynamics of this car work, the air is eddying behind the passenger compartment and actually pushing forward. Ever notice how driving without the windscreen creates a breeze from the back?

That's why the meshes and the transparent windscreen snap in from the back! These Porsche guys are smart!

I zip tie loosely.
I drilled a hole in the bottom of my center screen so I could also zip tie that. Those things are constantly taking a lot of wind buffeting especially the center screen

In fourteen years of spirited driving I have never added any zip tie or tape and have never had one of these "blow loose". If the tabs are in good shape, I would think that it is unnecessary unless you need peace of mind.

agreed; If blowing out was a problem, designers would have accounted for it. I never had a problem at speeds well in excess of 100 mph.

Instead of two-sided carpet tape, which is very thin, get the thicker modeller's stuff from a hobby shop, or sometimes hardware stores sell an outdoor variety that's about 1/16" thick and spongy. With that and a wire tie at the bottom even the loosest of panels should stay put.

Btw, the wire tie at the bottom is there as a safety strap so that if the panel does pop out you don't spend the next hour looking for it in the ditch. A wire tie at the top isn't required and would look pretty bad no matter how you try and hide it.

I've never had one blow out, but after hearing of the experiences of others I thought it wise to take precautions. The thought crossed my mind to put a screw through the tab into the rollbar but I think that's going a bit far.

I use two zip ties at the bottom. The big problem is passengers reclining their seat too far, pushing the screen outward. Eventually the tabs will break. Ask me how I know:rolleyes: I had to replace the passenger side screen this past week.

I put Velcro on mine and one single zip tie on the bottom in case someone is walk away with mine.
