Hood locked - fuse box unlocking method doesn't work?!?

Hi
I removed the battery from my boxster 2007 and put it in the garage for the winter.
I left hood unlocked but someone must have pressed it down and locked it.
Today I hooked up a jumper cable to an suv, ran it to the porsche, connected it to the red fuse and black to auto frame, and tried to open the hood with the button. The cable is connected and I try the buttons and nothing happens.

But now I'm thinking, is the electrical connection with the battery necessary to complete the circuit to unlock the hood? In most cases, there would be a battery there, even if is dead. Am I correct that the battery needs to be there to unlock hood via fusebox? If so, how do I open hood now? Thanks

Look for the emergency hood release cable in the front passenger wheel well liner.

I "think" the battery needs to be there to complete the circuit. I would also look for the emergency cable in the wheel well.

I had the exact same issue and it took me a lot of effort & trials to get the hood opened, but eventually running the fuse wire from the cigarette lighter to the red fuse jumper box, and the door handle - AND - connecting a battery charger (you can use jumper cables & another car) to the red jumper and door handle at the same time finally did the trick.

I had no success finding the wheel liner cable, but you should look at that option as well, especially if you have no battery sitting inside.

There's the possibility that the positive cable is lying on a ground preventing the circuit from completing, maybe just applying 12 volts to the side of the fuse that goes to the door locks may work. Otherwise try pulling the switch and apply 12 volts there.

Note: and this is important, not only is the 12 volts positive important, make sure the ground is at a good place too.

I opened mine using the fuse box connection with the battery removed. So, apparently the battery doesn't need to be connected, to answer one of your questions.

I know this won't help you open the frunk, but next time remove the 2 hood latch bolts. Takes 30 seconds and the frunk can't lock without the latch.
