Manual 6S Lubricant refill...am I over thinking this ?

I drained my 6S Manual yesterday, I have 3 quarts from Pelican to refill. If I use the pump (which is the only way I see to really get it in there) there is always some left in the bottom of the container, how critical is this ?

SHould I order another quart and add a trace amount to top it off and account for this missing amount ?

Thanks
Dwight

usually when filling a gearbox, it is filled until the gear oil starts spilling out from the fill hole. if the three quarts don't get you there, you probably need more, if it does start spilling out you are full. if pelican recommends 3 quarts, it should be more than enough... just my opinion. if you need a little more, read the specs on the bottles you received and get a compatible oil from your local parts store. the A.P.I. specs should get you where you need to be.

3 quarts is 2,8390588 litre. So you should have 39 ml more than you need.

Can you measure the amount you'll get out of the container? If it is 2.8 litre it should be OK.

When the engine and transmission is warmed up and if the car is absolutely leveled the transmission oil should be on level with the upper oil (fill in) hole. At nomal room temperature the transmission oil level is below the upper hole.

Yes, I have the drained lubricant contained in a clean oil collection container....my city will pick up oil from the curb and recycle....I always do this.

I will measure later and see

I looked and actually the bottles are 1 L each, so I should be fine
