Question Keyless Entry

My boxster didn't come with keyless entry. At least I don't have the remote when I bought the boxster. How difficult is it to install the OEM remote keyless entry receiver and tap into the door lock/unlock?

Does your key head have a round button that operates a light? Jeff

Key head

Yeah, it has the round light button.

Does that make a difference?

It is called the no option $399 per month lease special. I have seen a few cars w/o the remote. It is funny when you look at the passenger door and see a place to put in a key.

I do not know anyone who has tried to retrofit. You would need a lot of parts and extensive wiring to go oem - if it can be done. You would be better off with aftermarket.

Suggest you just live with it as it is not important. Jeff

Thanks Jeff. When I carfaxed the car, it came up as originally a lease vehicle. That would make more sense. I actually don't even know if my passenger side has a key hole. I'm always on the driver side

Thanks for the info though.

Hi

I also have the same problem, my 2001 Boxster doesn't have keyless remote entry and i am also in the search to have one in my car. I found some OEM keyless remote kit from other Boxster,
Porsche Boxster 986 97 99 2 5L DME ECU Immobilizer Transducer Key Tiptronic | eBay

Does anyone know if getting this kit will be able to convert my vehicle to keyless entry ? or whats the complete lists of parts i need to make it work ?

Many thanks !
