Bought my first Boxster (finally), should I do any service on it based on its Carfax?
Bought a 2006 with 38,000 miles and am wondering if I should take it to the shop for any maintenance based on the Carfax info below. All of the work below was done at the same Porsche dealer, who sold it to me:
15,000 miles; 8/2011 Pre-delivery inspection completed Oil and filter changed Washed/detailed 28,000 miles; 8/2013 Four wheel alignment performed 34,000 miles; 5/2104 Brakes checked Oil and filter changed 38,000 miles; 12/2014 Maintenance inspection completed Four wheel alignment performed Battery replaced Inspection completed Nitrogen fill tires Oil and filter changed Washed/detailed |
I would get a PPI Done at a trusted shop and make any repairs they suggest. Good luck and welcome !!

Oops, forgot to mention that I got a PPI done. I will go with his recommendations, which were a couple of minor things. Thanks for the response.

I'm no expert on that generation Boxster - but you might want to do some research on 06 and IMS. From what I know - it was still a concern in that model year. For a car with such low KMs - good chance the car has potentially sat for prolonged periods. As well - based on carfax - those are HUGE gaps in the oil change schedule. Changed at 15,000 and then next done at 34,000?

Carfax can be woefully inaccurate especially when it comes to maintainance history so while there's a big gap it's unlikily to be correct.
The 06's IMS bearing requires spliting the case to get to it. Basically it's not servicable but by must accounts the risk is much lower. |
