Snow:(
Not a Boxster kind of day :( it was 80 and sunny 3 weeks ago. Steering out of a massive slide sure wakes you up in the morning. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1424704026.jpg

Yeah. Just booked a rental car for the next few days down here, the Michelin Pilot super sports would not fare well.
Maybe next year I'll get a winter set of wheels/tires. |
I was just outside and was debating on finding a nice big open lot to have some fun in. I miss snow days from when I had my Subaru's but todays are the days I need to get a Jeep. My wife is pregnant now so I am going to have m FIL (he just bought a jeep) drive me to her work to drive her home.

Yeah today's weather was not boxster weather. And Newart, that's crazy.

I miss driving in the snow! Fish tails around the corners (oops!) and power sliding through parking lots! Don't miss the cold though.

Here was my path to help a friend out...Northern Illinois and not fun with temps reaching minus 30 degrees F! Bad enough I had to clear my own drive.

By the end of the day we had 5 inches.
That's a blizzard around here. ;) http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...psrxztzrlb.jpg And year after year, many still drive as if they've never seen snow before. |
I agree, Oklahoman's are the worst inclement weather drivers.

I love how whenever the weathermen (who are wrong 80% of the time anyway) even mention a dusting of snow, people rush the stores knocking each other over to grab all the shovels, blankets, salt, batteries, lanterns, and canned goods they can get their hands on. :D |
Here in the South
The essentials are Bread and Milk......I suppose Milk Sandwiches are the key to snow survival when you get 1/4 inch of snow

Even my commuter bike tires are winter only. I cut through snow and ice like a hot knife through butter. 5 degrees this morning! http://www.bikelightsreview.com/wp-c...hon-winter.jpg |
We do not get enough snow here in Oklahoma to warrant a dedicated winter set of tires. I am on summer tires and I was fine yesterday. It is just driving within your capabilities and not over doing it. Just be smart.
|
I'm not sure what the weather is like in Oklahoma but even if you don't get snow if you have temps consistently below 40 degrees you can benefit from winter tires.
|
Oh I agree I we had weather to that extreme. Seriously our winters are not that bad. The wind chill makes it colder than anything. Literally a couple weekends ago it was 80 degrees and it is normal for it to do that every winter. On average we might have two weeks of constant weather being less than 40 degrees, with only a couple day of snow/ice
|
That's not too bad. We get snow 5 months out of the year up here. I sit and stare at my S, telling it stories of better days. :ah:

Snow? Pffft!

I've driven for 30 years without a set of snow tires and have never once ditched or wrecked a car. The first 20 of those years was in old domestic rear wheel drive cars with no traction control, anti-lock, or computers. Got along fine. I see plenty of monster 4x4 trucks and SUVs with winter tires in the ditch. They're usually the ones speeding along and weaving through traffic like there's nothing on the road. Winter tires, traction control, etc., while beneficial, don't save one from being a drooling idiot. |

Yeah, it must be tough to have to deal with snow and cold. Wouldn't know what that's like....
|
Rather balmy in the Peg is it? :p
|
Oh yeah, beach weather totally.
You guys down south shouldn't feel too bad about having difficulty with snow. When they get more than a few inches in Toronto they have to call in the army to help them dig out. |
