550 Spyder motor

Hi What motor mods give the 550 Spyder the extra HP above the standard 3.2 S ?
Cheers

I know a part of it was the air intake box.

See this thread.

Also take a look at this thread.

http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/31693-maf-throttle-body-diameter.html

I've got my 987 air intake box modding done, using the stock MAF house so the computer can read the air flow correctly. If you use the larger MAF house you will need a tune.

I also went with the 76mm 996 Throttle Body and the 997 Distribution T to the Plenums.

Hope to have it all installed in the next couple weeks. Still waiting on some attachment parts to come in.

987 air box and 90 MM (3-1/2") MAF. The motor internally is the same The exhaust was the same.

Air flow and tuning.

The 2004 S SE has 6 extra HP over the 2004 S, up from 258 to 264.

Didn't the 2004 S have the 987 airbox?

Pdwight 02-23-2015 12:15 PM

Well 90mm 987 TB's are easy to come by for $100...if that is all it took for 6 to 8 HP it would be the way to go....but a tune is expensive

$100 is better spent towards UD pulley. No tune necessary.

No only the special editions

I also understand there are some changes to the variable cam timing for the later cars.
