Boxster Expansion Tank

Has anyone ever ordered an expansion tank for Canada Parts Online? They seem to be selling it pretty cheap compared to the other online parts store. I am in Canada and am having a hard time locating one for a fair price.

Expansion Tank

Here is the link I would appreciate any insight.

Canada Parts Online - expansion tank

At $101.96 U.S. it is a fair bit cheaper than elsewhere. As well, they advertise "no brokerage fees" which is always good. It may well be worth a try since it is only a coolant reservoir and not a mechanical part. I paid over $400 CAD for mine here.

Those are aftermarket tanks, not the OEM unit. From experience, aftermarket tanks are generally not as well made as the factory units, but they are cheap.

If the expansion tank was an easy fit, I would take a chance on the non Porsche unit - but taking into account the time and energy that goes into the fitting process, I would choose the genuine article every time....

It`s always a toss up. My first (genuine Porsche) tank lasted about 13 years. An aftermarket (inferior? maybe) unit may only last 6, or not. It took me a few hours to change the part. Okay, I'm an artist, not a neurosurgeon. I don't make $100/hour. There's always a s*load of parts to change on these cars. It's a plastic bottle. Were I to do it again (God forbid) I know what I would choose.
But that's me.
BTW, it's not fun, changing the part, but it doesn't take more than a few hours.
:)

I am confortable with changing the tank that's not an issue but I was wondering if any of you guys had any experience with this seller??

Hey Newart where did you end up buying the tank? I also in Montreal and it's a pain to try to find that part in Canada. I usually use Rockauto or autopartsway but I don't really know anything about canadaparts online. I know they are based in California so it's not a Canadian website.

My indie, Rombotis Tuning. Steve got me the part the next day. Since it was summer and I didn't want to wait 2 weeks to get my part.
Canada parts online seem to have good prices when you calculate the exchange and shipping (no brokerage) etc. I ordered a fan from them last week for which I paid via Paypal. When they couldn't supply the part, they immediately issued a refund. This means that I lost a couple of days and ordered the part through ****************************************. More expensive, but they ship USPS, so hopefully I won't have to pay brokerage fees. Canada Parts Online seems okay to me.

 Odd that the suppliers name is bleeped above.

I will give them a try I have never ordered from them before. I don't mind waiting for the part since the car will stay parked for a little while longer. The weather sucks right now in Montreal as you very well know. LOL
