My little big project...
I think the war board says it all except both outer CV boots. I get to my shop at 4:30-5 AM then work on car until about 7 before paying customers take over.

What a greasy mess. It was caked on everywhere. Both CV boots went over time, plus a oil filter housing leak, then the shift lever leak. The clunk in the left rear finally did it. Clutch was shot. CV fell apart.
Machine a new bearing next week, trans back together, IMS, reinstall it all. |
WOW Tim!
That's a big project. I think you need to invest in a lift. Great pic, especially of the tranny innards! don't see that very often Don't forget to lock the cams at TDC before you start the IMS replacement How hard was it to drop the tranny on jack stands? I'm gonna need to do my clutch soon and am thinking of DIY Best of luck to ya |
WOW.... That is an amazing DIY undertaking. I am stoked when I do a brake job. I am working up the nerve to do the water pump ... then I see this post. Nice job.

looks like an ambitious endeavor... but it's just not finished until the curb feelers are installed

Shift lever

My Indy guy says mill out old bearing / bushing, press in new bushing, add new seal, done. The gearbox case pops right off. A roller bearing would be a permanent fix. The shift lever arm is held in by one clip and the arm's shaft is not worn at all. |

The seal on the outside is needed too. The bushing takes up wobble and movement. |
