I have a 2001 Boxster S Manual 6 speed with 80K and will need to decide at the time I need a new clutch to have it done or not. Going to my local Walmart for Mobil 1 as soon as I get a chance. I'm also going to be replacing the transmission fluid. Thinking of using a manual pump from the fill opening to remove the old transmission fluid instead of having to remove the bottom cover and the aluminum brace just to get to the drain. Hopefully I can get it all doing it this way. Advise or thoughts if any? |
eacallo986,
I purchased the car in 2009 with 104,000 miles. I don't know how many people owned the car before me, but I would guess it has the original IMS. From what I've read, a car with at least 50,000 miles would have had an IMS failure by now. Personally if I were you, and I am not you, I would not change out my IMS. However, if replacing it eliminates your worries then go ahead and do it. MNC-I |

One time I tried Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W30 and got engine clatter at start up. I immediately changed back to 0W40 within 2 days. No engine clatter at start up with 0W40.

My previous P-Car was a 2007 Cayman S. The FIRST scheduled oil change according to the owner's manual and the car's computer was 20K.
