Electrical Problem Questions

I have a 2001 3.2L S. Behind my rear view mirror is a piece of chip with a button on it and it's just hanging there... I have no idea what it's for and what it does. Any ideas of what it might be for??

ALSO, power to the dash never seems to die out. On my old boxster, once you pull out the key, all electrical is shut off after 30 minutes or so. BUT, for this boxster, it stays on forever... I don't drive my boxster out very often but i do walk past it every morning and every morning my car adapter charger is lit up as if the car had it's key in... Like, I could literally just walk up to the car, plug in my phone and it would start charging or even walk up to it, press the "on" button to the radio and it would turn on and play music. Longest I left it alone was 3 days but had no problem starting up the car. Not sure what's going on. Any one got an explanation??:confused::confused:

looks like the hanging wires may be part of an auto dimming system for the rear view mirror. as for the cigarette lighter plug it is a constant hot circuit (it does not go off when the key is turned off). the radio will come on without the key when the power button is pushed. once turned on without the key, the radio must be turned off. it is just the way the circuits are run.
