Durametric

Anyone in Mass/RI/CT/NH have a Durametric I can rent or borrow for this weekend? Need to pull some codes and reset the airbag light before bringing it to DOT for re-title and inspection by the state police on Tuesday.

Thanks!
Mike

Please understand if you use the enthusiast version it only comes with 3 VIN accesses.....so if someone loaned you one they would loose 1/3 of their investment and it will be locked to your car from now on. Now if you can find someone with a professional version it has unlimited access. Get a ELM327 for 10 bucks to pull codes with your smart phone...as for the airbag you may have to get a shop to reset that.....pending someone with a Pro version.

Doooh completely forgot about the Enthusiast vs Pro limit on the VIN's. I had bought the Chinese knock off cable a couple of years ago and it worked for 10 minutes and that was it. I'm checking with a shop somewhat near me to see if I can borrow his or if he can come up with his PIWIS.

I'm in a time crunch and need to get this reset before Tuesday but cant drive it anywhere to get it done.

You might want to call on the airbag light to see if it is part of inspection. In Texas it is not, I passed with it on. You'll need a Porsche specific tool to turn it off. As far as codes go (in Texas), the car will not pass with the CEL lit. It will pass with one "not ready" in the computer memory. That is the only way I get mine to pass as my SAI still throws a code after replacing most of it. I reset the codes (all now read "not ready") then drive until my trusty Durametric tells me everything is ready except the SAI. Then off I go for inspection.

Here in mass the airbag light is an automatic fail. Even more so with this being a DOT inspection by the state police. Since this is a salvage recovery they inspect everything to make sure it's been repaired completely.

After you reset any codes or MIL's, you will need to run the car through several full drive cycles before the car will reset to "ready" status for inspection.

Borrowed a Durametric Pro from a local race shop. Fixed the airbag light and pulled some codes. Now onto the Re-title inspection!
