6th gear, 3K on tach = ?

5th gear, 4k on tach = ?

4th gear, 5k on tach = ?

Please feel free to try to stump the rest of the forum with your little known facts.

Mr. Raby, please no internal engine values.

6th gear, 3K on tach = 75 MPH actual - 78 MPH displayed

5th gear, 4k on tach = 81.5 MPH actual - 84 MPH displayed

4th gear, 5k on tach = 82 MPH actual - 85 MPH displayed

Repost....

I have a GPS in the car and look at the true MPH / RPM. In sixth gear for every 2,000 RPM there is a 5 MPH change. In 5th gear there is a 4 MPH change for every 2,000 MPH. This is on my car and my GPS. Errors may exist due to operator error, tach off, GPS MPH off. But, here is what I came up with.

'01 S 6 Speed

6th Gear...............5th Gear

RPMs......MPH........RPMs.......MPH
2600......65...........2600.......53.5
2800......70...........2800.......57.5
3000......75...........3000.......61.5
3200......80...........3200.......65.5
3400......85...........3400.......69.5
3600......90...........3600.......73.5
3800......95...........3800.......77.5
4000......100..........4000.......81.5

So is there any way to make the speedometer accurate? Even the meanest beater has an accurate speedometer. This is the one thing that bugs me every time I drive the box.

Nope... we are stuck with 3 MPH high readings. Over the years there have been countless discussions regarding this issue and the brightest minds could never find a fix.

I like the fact that mine reads 3-4 mph high. give me a little buffer when driving fast
