Sport Design Wheel question

1 Attachment(s)
Hey Guys,

I'm trying to hunt up a set of Sport Design wheels for one of my projects.

Those of you who have them on your Boxster, can you check offset and width for me? I'm guessing fronts are 7.5/50/18, rears are 9/52/18?

If you happen to have a 996 with the Sport Design wheels (Tom?), can you check for me as well? I'm also looking for a set for my 996 and I'm getting various numbers for the rears (maybe WB and NB difference, but I'm getting widths of both 9/52/18 and 10/65/18 inches on the 996 rear). Fronts were either 7.5 or 8, depending on which car they came on.

Thanks - you guys rock!

Rick

I'm taking a set off my 996nb next week and going to put them up for sale. If you're interested, let me know.

fronts 18x7.5 ET50
rears 18x10 ET65

Here are the spec's for the Sport Design wheels on my 996 C2 which is a narrow body:

Front: PN 996.362.134.55 18x7.5 offset 50mm
Rear: PN 996.362.140.50 18x10 width offset 65mm

I run tires sizes 235/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear on these wheels.

BTW, the Sport Design also came in a 8" width for the front but I don't have the spec's handy for that wheel.

I've bought a single 8" front wheel. It's 8/52. The Mk1 996 Euro GT3 came with the 8" front and 10" rear Sport Design. 8's are pretty impossible to find. That's what I'm trying to replicate on my aerokit 996 C4. Porsche put 7.5 and 10 on the turbo 996.

I have a guy trying to sell me a set he said came off his 996, but they are 9/52 rears. A 9" rear on a 996 just doesn't sound right, so I guess I'll pop over to Rennlist to see what they say.

So far I've bought a single 7.5, 8 and 9. 7.5, 9 and 10 are easy to find, but tend to bring big dollars. The 3 I've found so far have all been refinished and were pretty reasonable.

I also want to put a set of Sport Designs on my 2002S and take the wheels on that car and stash them for the future Spec car. I'm going to put Sport Classics on one of my '99s for the same reason - stash the wheels - you know how hard the rears are to find. ;)

Thanks for your help!

Rick

Same here on my 1999 C4

"Sexy rolls" translation of what they say here about nice looking wheels (in Chinese lol)

Haven't forgot about you Rick, you'll know what I mean when you read this I'm sure

Luck with your project mate

Early 996's came with 265/35/18 tires & therefore 9" width wheels. I think 10" wheels were optional & became standard in 2002 along with their 285/30/18 tires.
2001 Turbo came standard with 11" rear wheels.

My Boxster S came from the factory with 7.5/ 50/18 and 9/ 52/18 as you expected. Does the rims in your post have a clearcoat over the outer lip or is it just polished?

Thanks for the info.

I stole that picture from a different post just so someone would know the wheels I was talking about, but the lip is polished only. Looks good, doesn't it?
