Rev flat spot after MAF cleaning

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a great holiday season. Trying to track down an issue and yes I did search for an answer...

Got the P1198 on a 2001 S, so I replaced the upstream O2 Sensor and cleaned the MAF. I had the fault cleared.

So when driving it, it seems to be a bit sluggish up to about 4500 RPM, then there is a surge up past 5K. From there is rev's fine. I am wondering if maybe the MAF is going (or is) bad.

Any ideas? Also is there more than one MAF part number for the 2001 S?
Thanks in advance.

Drove the car for a bit. The flat spot is a 3700-3800 RPM and is really only felt under hard throttle. Under low to mid throttle, it is not noticeable. You know, it could have been there all along and I just never noticed it....:o

Actually, I had a really noticeable flat spot under hard throttle this summer when I was trouble shooting my MAF issues. This is how I fixed it:

Every time I was working on the car and then driving it, I got a flat spot at 4500 rpms. To get rid of it, let the car completely cool off, say overnight. Next morning, disconnect the battery for a couple mins. Reconnect battery. Turn the key on but don't start it (don't touch the pedals) for a minute. Turn the car off. Start the car and let it idle for 5 mins. You should be good to go from there.

Sounds silly, but if I didn't do that - that flat spot would hit hard, esp. ripping down the autobahn.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
