Stripes
So, I know how asking for opinions goes, but what do you guys think of martini stripes on a red car? (5 min photoshop job)http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1419826167.jpg
|
As for my opinion.....No
|
Dig what you have in mind. Just a quick eye... could look all right if limited to the hood only. Sort of how this guy did to his...
http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/v...ps43f5fe1e.png Unfortunately black stripes would be the only (safe) balanced color for the red Porsche. White is the other one but many pcars with white stripes somehow end up looking like a mini cooper more than anything else :/ |
I think Martini stripes goes well with red... after all lol

I think they look good on a red Boxster, perhaps if you had a hardtop to continue unbroken stripes over and down the trunk lid
Check out info@magnagrafik.com. They used to do magnetic removable Martini stripes, have a look at the gallery photos. |

Great movie.
Bill Murray, John Candy.....what's not to like?? Love the RV...... |
|
Not really my cup of tea, however I'm of the mindset, it's your car so what you like. I would keep it to the hood only.
|
Looks like a Smurf drove over it. Never been a fan of stripes, less is more.
My opinion, you asked for it, do what YOU like, it's YOUR car....... |
NO! Can't improve on the solid red. I don't care if it is your car, NO ;)!
|
No
My opinion - No. Like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

I think the stripes don't look half bad! I personally wouldnt do the front to back, maybe somewhere smaller? Top of of the fender where it meets the hood to the wheel on a bit of an angle? :D
|
I like the Martini stripes. Look at as many cars as you can find online to get an idea of how to get the look that you like.
And Nine8Six, thanks for the pic! We all needed a little splash of life this morning! :) |
No........

I think a 911 can get away with it, but not a boxster.

Stripes looks good, I think black stripes look killer on a red car
Wish I had a tricked & white pcar... I'd do something in the line of that. (pwave will kill me for posting that lol). Nice subtle black stripes with a color flare... http://www.dpccars.com/gallery/var/r...p%20-%2003.jpg |
Fred - you know how you're doing some work for me for a couple of my projects?
You will see these livery colors again. Just sayin'... |

Don't listen to any of the people who think Porsches show roll around like just off the showroom. Porsches are probably the most modified German sports cars you'll find. Even the factory modify their own cars by putting aero bits or fenders on this non-turbo car, offering graphics for the doors, "black editions", custom colors. Ferry Porsche's personal one off 2.7 had custom door graphics and some one off mint green color. |
To dig up an old thread...
I'm looking into wrapping a Boxster in vinyl. Main body color will be charcoal metallic. I'm thinking of putting Martini Racing livery on it but wish to keep it monochrome, like this: http://www.sssupersports.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/4-918-spyder-martini-dennis-van-der-meijs.jpg https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2905/14549849973_79c2e1c9a0_h.jpg What do you guys think? Is anyone here good with PhotoShop and can do a quick mock-up? Oh, this will be a one-season thing. Just to have some fun and attract more attention (yeah, some of us need that) during a road trip. |
I say do it! The trick will be to get the colors right and not go too far overboard with the graphics. Done well it will look awesome and you'll have a one of a kind.
|
Here you go. A quick photoshop job. Not too much racing stripe. Just enough to personalize your Boxster.

I don't care for the look, sorry you asked for opinions. The car is very bright to begin with I think the stripes look good on white cars, adds some bling but the red is already blinged. Whatever you decide enjoy and make it your own!
|
I think it looks fantastic.
However, if you are going that route, do it like you mean it with the Martini sticker and side stuff. Not just the stripes on the hood. Even better is the one below in my opinion. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/aaa1420630611.jpg Just love those racy looking things. Variety is the spice of life. Go for it!!! |
The original poster had a red car. Mine is black and soon will be charcoal (dark gray) metallic.
|
|
My vote: no stripes.
