The Bugatti Chiron, AKA the Veyron Successor, Will Be a 288-MPH Animal with E-Turbos
In regards the drivetrain, Bugatti has reportedly been examining several options, but appears to have settled on carrying over the 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16. The goal is to boost output from 1,200 to 1,500 horsepower, which will be done via direct fuel injection and – get this – electric turbochargers. These will provide fast-acting torque, likely to peak around 1,000 lb-ft, sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Bugatti expects a top speed of around 288 mph with this setup – some 18 mph faster than the Veyron’s. The Chiron will also come with active air deflectors, carbon ceramic brakes and a huge rear wing that also acts as an air brake. (And PORSCHE is sued for the CGT being too fast or dangerous.....) |
When a customer can get 400hp for $40K and 700hp for $60K, it seems to me like the horsepower wars should be about over; but I suppose that there is still the magic 300mph production street car that some manufacturer would like to claim.

1,500hp, air brakes and all.... Pfff..... easy. Just need to go get my pilot license and voila, ready for it!
Keep your kids indoor when these powerful cars will come to market. Just a feeling.... recently notice that those with that much cash aren't necessarily the best drivers of all time lol |
If they're electric, they're superchargers, not turbos.

It's a shame that the car will
likely be as ugly as the previous veyron. The technology and performance is amazing but it really is one of the ugliest supercars every built...the EB110 was a better looking car by far.
