Ticking noise with stopped hot engine

Hi guys,

So when my car has been at operating temperature, and I turn it off, there's a ticking noise coming from the engine bay. It sounds like something is cooling down and making a ticking noise. It has been this way since forever, and I'm trying to find out where it comes from. I don't hear it when my car idles, only when I turn off a hot engine.

Thanks,

Ticking

If there's any heat shields under there, that would be my bet. And I certainly wouldn't worry about it.

What these guys said. All cars tick but the box gets a lot hotter than other cars and its all aluminum. No worries. If the fan comes on after you shut it down then you know you drove it right

It's always nice to feel the warmth out of the air vent in the cold winter air!

Exhaust system or heat shields

It's all right at the back so you notice it more than on front engine cars where the muffler is under the middle and the whole system is longer.
