Convertible top speed sensor

I have a 2004 Boxster S and recently splurged for a SmartTop relay. While playing around with it, I've discovered that with the SmartTop, I am able to raise or lower the top while moving at any speed (0-60+).

When I go back to the stock relay, I can pull the e-brake up a couple of clicks until the light comes on and then I can raise/lower the top no matter the speed.

How can I troubleshoot the speed sensor?

If you purchased it from Shedad (spelling) contact him...mine works great stops at just above 20mph

I tried to buy from him but he didn't come through. I got the real deal from mods4cars and with their help, narrowed it down the speed sensor. Same behavior with both the stock and ST relay mean its not the relay but something wrong with Porsche's intended safeguard.
