Take it back to the shop that did the work

Fluid levels should be checked again. I topped mine up 3 times before all the nooks and crannies were filled!

How do i check the trans fluid?

The reason it's not in the owner's manual is that checking Tip fluid level is a relatively complicated procedure, done from under the car. If you're keen on doing this sort of thing yourself, I recommend you buy the Bentley manual.

The problem is the previous owner had the work done and that was 13 months ago according to the paperwork. It's my deal now..

1. Car on jackstands
2. Run car until trans temp reaches 100 degrees F. using infra red temp tool
3. Remove filler plug with car running
4. Pump in ATF 1 with hooked filler tube until fluid overflows out the hole
5. Close plug and turn off car
6. Road test
7. Repeat if necessary after ATF has cooled down to 100 F.

It's a messy job. Temperature is important. You can make the filler out of a modified garden sprayer.

Todd

Also had this slipping 5th thing a while ago. There is a vacuum valve that triggers open/close for the cooling of the tip. Located on the driver side right next to the tip/shift rod. This valve was shot (seized) on my car and after my indy here replaced it for a new one ($125) the slipping 5th instantly stopped.

Yours might also be overheating like mine was but as the other fellas here recommended, it's worth ruling out low ATF also

luck mate

Are you lifting off of the throttle when you change then picking it up hard as soon as you hit the switch ? Does it do it in other gear changes ? Mine was a bit slow but it didn`t jump a grand though. I had it serviced, fluids and a filter and its much faster changing now. Can you smell burnt trans fluid ?

Thanks for all the help guy's it has only happened once.It just had me a little concerned.Looking at the paperwork the trans fluid and rebuild was performed 14 grand ago. This weekend i will check the fluid.Should it be changed? Can the fluid be bought locally and what type?Im waiting on my manuals..I will also check that vacum valve.
