Tesla Model S P85D

Impressive vehicle. Between the AWD with 691 hp and facets of autonomous driving for $120k dare I say it's somewhat of a good value. Is the death of the ICE upon us sooner then we think?

I have a couple friends with Tesla's. They are impressive vehicles. And my friends are as rabid, if not more so, about their Tesla's than we are about our Porsches. :)

Love the car, wish it cost $60K less than it does!!!! And I'm just talking about the regular S.

The horsepower races have been over for quite awhile and anything over 400-450hp is useless on the street. Plus, how long does the battery last at full power? A big battery and an electric motor isn't anything special, its just a bigger Prius.

But then, I don't understand why the 918 doesn't simply have a 700hp V-8 either.

Not a huge fan of the plugin cars but this is one I certainly could live with. A Pruis and the like are just dreadful cars to drive. I'm going to be one of those guys 40 years from now still driving an ICE. When I can't drive myself anymore at least I'll be able to get around in an autonomous car.

Wall street doesn't think so: Overheard: Tesla Backfire - WSJ
"Elon Musk gave Tesla Motors investors a “D” on Thursday night and they returned the favor on Friday."

Wall Street is easily disappointed, especially on a stock that has gotten ahead of itself. Today's sell off didn't help either.

Back to car talk.

I would disagree with you a bit Tom.
The Tesla is far more than a "bigger Prius"

Computer controlled electric motors give instant torque and the computer manages it so there is no or extremely little wheelspin so you get maximum power to the road
