986 Drivers door wont open Help

About two weeks ago, my 1998 Boxster's ( 93K miles) driver's door wont open from the inside. The window drops a couple inches then returns to closed postion. I can open it from the outside and the Key FOBS work to lock/unlock. No recent work or battery disconnect done. Is this a mechanical problem or a electrical microswitch problem ?
