Muffler bracket?
 

I was working under the car the other day and noticed this it seems like there is some kind of bracket that is missing which tie the catalytic converter the muffler. If you can see from the pics one of the hooks looks like it is on the wrong side of the bracket. The bracket is just two bolts, two nuts, and a plate that sits over the loop. I suppose you can fashion your own mount with two bolts, nuts and large thick washers

Wouldn't that cause a rattle? There is no rubber mount between the bolts.

Well it is supposed to be tight enough that it doesnt move separately, rather as a single unit i.e. no rattles.

I just took mine off this past weekend and I believe its just bolts and a plate. There was definitely no rubber but there could have been a few more metal parts that I've forgotten (but I dont think so)

I assume your car used to have aftermarket exhaust - only reason I can think of to pull them off. A lot of the aftermarket mufflers don't have the metal loop to use the bracket.

Here is a starting point - you need #21 and #14 in this diagram. If I remember right, #21 includes the bolts and plate - the bolts are welded to it.

I am not sure if it had after market exhaust looks like someone may have just forgotten to put the bolts back after doing some work. Thanks Craig for the parts list I will look into it. I don't know if it makes a difference but I would rather put the bolts back.

I agree, it looks like someone just didn't put them back in after having pulled the stock exhaust for some reason.

I just pulled mine in the past week and I'm quite certain the bolts were not welded to the small plate (Mine is an '00 3.2 if that matters).

You're probably right about the welding. But you can't pull the bolts out of the plate, right? As in if he orders it, #21 in that diagram includes the bolts? It was several months ago, but I seem to remember those bolts stayed with that plate. I'd go look, but I'm out of town.

I just went out to look at the gut pile next to my car and those bolts look to be pressed in place. That part number along with the two flanged nuts should take care of the job.
