Amber headlights with mirror tint

I've not come across anyone applying a mirror tint to amber lights yet, so I thought I'd try it. This a 50% mirror tint film. I think it gives the turn signal a slightly translucent look and tones down the orange.



I'm tempted to try a 20% mirror film (i.e. 20% light transmission rather than 50%). The 50% barely reduces the light output even in daylight, so I reckon 20% will still be OK.

The tint film only cost £5.99 per metre (50cm width) from eBay.

Never heard of, or seen this done on any headlights, let alone the boxster's. I'm intrigued. So this is house window film, or a particular one for car windows?

It's house window film. I'm surprised nobody's tried this already. Searched on Google but found nothing similar. Curious to see how hard wearing it is.

Did the same thing awhile back(but with headlight tint) and never got around to sharing. Very pleased with the results and they look much better in person than in the pics. I replaced the corner trim with the OEM grays and just tinted the turn signal area.

Looks good. Couldn't find any headlight mirror tint for sale in the UK. What % mirror did you use (or % light transmission). 50% transmission is apparently MOT legal here.

I don't know the exact tint percentage because the sellers on ebay just list either dark or light tint, but if I were to guess, I'd say 40% based on my previous experience with window tint. The tint matches the corner trim really nice and blend well together.

I can't quite tell from the pics, but is that a mirrored tint, or a smoked one?

It's a lightly smoke vinyl tint. Very easy to apply and work with.
