front engine mount replace

Does anybody know how hard it is to pull the old core out of the front engine mount? Can it be pounded out or is it a really tight fit?

I'm going to say you can't take it out without a press. With a press it is very easy took less than 10 minutes.

Is this the mount that you can get from a an older Carrera?

I think the transmission mount is the one that you can use a 993 mount by reusing a bracket, not the front motor mount.

cut out

cut it out with a hack saw blade, press new one in. Mark the holes before removal so new one lines up there is a u tube video

What are you trying to do. If you want to install a urethane or hard core, be advised that you will get some significant vibration. The stock engine mount is cheap and it works.

Thanks, I'm trying to replace my core with another stock core (the ~35$ one). Makes no sense to replace the whole mount for $150 if I just need new rubber but I dont want to get it out just to find out that I cant pound out/in the old/new mount

You might want to shoot Pedro an email as he has the experience in retrofitting the old front motor mount with a new core.

again ,cut it out press new one in. There is an updated mount that pedros recommends rather than reinstalling old style mount.

Just buy the insert, and take the mount to someone with a small press, like a shop or a local alignment place, remove and re-install (aligning the small arrow pointers) and go back home...

or buy the insert cut the old one out with a hacksaw blade and carefully press it in with a vice like I did and never leave the house. Rocket science I know...Its the space shuttle
