Starting/Stalling Issue

Good Morning All,

I have a 1999 Porsche Boxster with 154,000 miles on it. The car flashes no CEL. I'm currently having an issue with it stalling and not starting up. If I come out to start it in the morning it starts just fine. This is hit or miss, I will be at a stop light and it would just shut off. I try to start back up and it won't start. it will continually turn over, but won't start. Sometimes, I will get to a destination and it won't start when I come out. When it finally does start back up it will be sometimes 2 or 3hrs later. I have replaced the fuel filter and of coarse when it is at the shop the car starts right on up with no problems. Does anyone have an idea of what it could be? :(

Possibly a failing crank sensor. When it won't start, and you are cranking it, does the RPM needle move to show RPMs or does it stay at zero? Does it ever shut off when you are driving? or just when you are at a stop light?

100% crank sensor. $85 for a 986 here:

Amazon.com: Bosch 0261210204 Reference Mark Sensor: Automotive

Easy DIY if you have smallish hands. single screw and a connector.
