3M CF Install on Center Console

Well I spent tonight working on this. Results were....OK. Not great but OK. I have to say much more difficult than expected on the first try. I think doing it again would be a lot easier. Good news is the wife approves...so getting put back in the car this weekend.

i actually bought a roll of the 3M CF wrap stuff ..thinkin to do the same. but got intimidated ...so the roll is still unopened sitting in the corner.

Well...aside from the obvious of watching a bunch of youtube videos....I can only offer A) it's a two man job....one does the application and the other holds the heat-gun/hair-dryer B)buy the primer....it helps and C)go center-out and don't cut anything until you're done with the stretching part.

Good luck!!! It looks really nice when you're done and the stuff is pretty darn tough.

What kind of wrap did you use? Di-Noc?

with than the 3m 1080 films.

Yes - DiNoc...not 1080. It's pretty cool stuff. Next will be the little door flappy lids.

Here's everything put back together. (Icing is I bought an extra Porsche button and wired it to a garage door opener. BLISS. Little things in life....)

Good for you.3M is good quality stuff.My console is scratched etc and my biggest hurdle will be doing the research here just to get it out of the car!

Getting the console out is quite simple - do a search, lots of how to's on here. And you could always paint your console as another, simpler option.

Very nice looking. Actually something I might consider doing. Question, what made you choose this verses hydro dipping?

what hydro dipping is or that it exists...FYI...if you purchase more material to do the doo r pockets, the 1080 is easier to work with and much more flexible than the DINOC.

What he said. I've never heard of "hydro-dipping". Sound's like something that fights with Godzilla.

I am not sure how the durability of the end product is but the fact people are dipping guns, valve covers, etc. suggests it lasts.

That's a great result. I wrapped a kitchen countertop (similar to yours) in this faux granite vinyl so I know your heat gun trial and error. When I did the island it was a cinch. LOL no one has yet noticed it's totally fake. Not bad for $30.

You interior would also look nice with some alcantara on the leather bits.
I plan to do this myself and rip out all the door carpeting. That should never be on a sports car imho.

I wrapped a few consoles and tricky things with lots of curves and its hard as hell to get it perfect, but yours looks really nice.

I think I'm going to try it because it seems fun and you get the nice deep gloss finish...I just dont know what to try it on

If you had the time and patience (I don't) it would be cool to create molds of some of the various interior pieces....like the console....and then use that kit or something similar to create fully CF parts.
