Driving Barefoot?

Where I live we wear flip flops 99% of the time. So when I drive the Boxster it's always barefoot. Slide off the flops and find my feet feel the pedals much nicer. always have excellent grip, especially for clutch control. Am I the only guy who drives this way,
Aloha for now!!:)

Barefoot for me always! Size 14s don't fit well in the footwell with the extra rubber.

Not too often barefoot but I drive mine in flips frequently!

steved0x 08-29-2014 05:04 PM

If I am in flip flops I always take them off in the boxster.

rdass623 08-29-2014 06:55 PM

with my 9.5 eeee feet, there is just enough room for shoes with my boxy, in my Miata it is a different story. during the day it is flip flops for the most part and they don't interfere with the Porsche pedals. I guess there are more tall Europeans than Asians, but I may be wrong on that generalization (probably not).

I wear flips flops almost year round too and yes I go bare foot less I risk making myself look like I can't drive a stick properly. With flip flop on it's just a mess.

Lobo1186 08-29-2014 07:09 PM

I sometimes will drive barefoot. However, spending some time in FL has made me more than comfortable with driving in flops. Things get a little tricky when you are trying to drive with combat boots.

One time as a younger man I was a ski instructor and drove a van in ski boots... now that was great.

since I am 6'5 I drive barefoot whenever I can because the extra legroom always helps!

ATX_Boxster 08-29-2014 07:14 PM

Barefoot is the way to go - especially in a warm climate.

Not to +1 Jake, as he is still growing, but my size 15's always feel better without shoes on while driving the Box!

I'm in flip flops when I'm not in boots and if I'm in flip flops i drive bare foot.

Deserion 08-29-2014 09:58 PM

Generally no, I don't go barefoot. Favorite shoes for driving the Box are Onitsuka Tiger Tai Chis.

Tevas for me :).

I've driven in my sock feet, but never barefoot.

I've tried driving in my Caterpillar work boots before. That was ugly. If I went to depress the brake pedal I would just about hit all three pedals at once. Hence the sock feet.

Normally it's just standard Nike gym shoes.

BIGJake111 08-30-2014 05:36 AM

So now the question is, where does everyone put their shoes?

On the floorboard back near the seat. Sounds like it could cause an issue if they get under the pedals, but honestly it has never been an issue. Even driving BMWs like a complete idiot in high school.

And I don't like driving the box barefoot - I do it, but feel like it is less smooth. Never minded it in other cars.

Sperry topsiders are my favorite.

In the footwell on the passenger side. Usually drive alone. Also keep a few clean rags there too. I'm fanatical about a spotless windshield...

Tucked back under the drivers seat.

And they even match the carpet. :-)

hancock1701 08-30-2014 09:56 PM

I thought I was the only one, then there're others too. I can only drive a stick shift car with shoes or bare feet, not with flip flops because I can't feel the pedals. I can drive an automatic with flip flops, but it doesn't feel very great.

JayG 08-31-2014 07:00 AM

I'm in San Diego, so it's flips almost year round
If I am doing some performance driving, I wear shoes as the heal of the flips sometimes drag on the carpet

I get good feel with flips, I wear Crocs brand , they are super comfortable
