I don't believe that I accidentally rearmed the alarm, as I thought that was what I had done in the 1st place. So I set the keys down and watched as the LED on the dash flased very rapidly for 5-10 seconds and then rearmed.

I did not open the door to break the cycle, so I'll try that tonight. I like the option, but the car does not get driven daily (bummer), only in my spare time, I'm concerned that the battery may get too much exercise over a week or two of sitting.
